Up to 1440p60 · H.264 · master kept local

The recorder that keeps the master.

Record your screen at full quality straight to your own disk, then send a right-sized copy to your own Google Drive — never to a server of ours. That is why there is no cap on length, and no cap on how many you make.

The whole argument

Your video never passes through us.

Every other recorder puts a server in the middle. That is where the transcode happens, that is where the file sits, and that is why the free tier stops at five minutes and twenty-five videos — storage is a bill someone has to pay.

Reverie writes to your disk and uploads to your Drive. There is no middle. Length and count cost us nothing, so we do not charge for them.

01

Your machine

The take is written straight to ~/Movies/Reverie while it records. It exists on your disk before anything else happens.

02

Your Drive

The share copy uploads directly from your machine to your own Google Drive, over your own connection. Resumable, so dropped wifi does not cost you the take.

03

Our servers

Not in the path. No transcode, no thumbnail pass, no temporary copy. Nothing to breach and nothing to bill you for.

04

Your link

Reverie hands you Google's own share link and steps out of the way. Your viewer lands on Google's page; we are not in the delivery path. Revoke access in Drive and the link dies.

What it does

Three moves, no menus.

The live preview is the interface. No scenes, no sources, no encoder tab — none of the things you have to learn before OBS will record once.

Capture

Screen and you

Any display, or an area you draw yourself. Your mic, and a camera inset you can move, resize and reshape — rectangle or bubble — baked into the take.

Into your Drive

Lose the wifi and it resumes at the same byte. No partial files, ever.

What that buys you

Four numbers that do not move.

Not promises — consequences of where the file lives.

Minutes per recording. There is no five-minute wall, on any tier.

Recordings kept. Your Drive sets the ceiling, not us.

0

Bytes of your video on our servers on the free tier. Nothing, ever, for transcoding.

1

Permission we ask Google for — files Reverie itself created. Nothing else.

Specifications

Built like a tool, not a tab.

A native macOS app. It records while your connection is down, and it never stops mid-take because something of ours is unreachable.

Capture

Up to 1440p60 · H.264

Hardware encode, at 30 or 60fps. The camera inset holds 30fps through a full-length take.

Storage

Local first, always

Every take lands in ~/Movies/Reverie before a single byte is uploaded anywhere.

Access

drive.file scope only

Reverie can only ever see files it created itself. Never the rest of your Drive.

Privacy

No telemetry

The app reports nothing back. There is no usage data for us to collect.

Pricing

Free is the real product. Paid is polish.

Loom stops you at five minutes and twenty-five videos. Nothing here stops you at all.

Recording is never metered. No tier caps how long you record or how many recordings you make — not now, not ever. Every tier keeps the trim editor, and every take lands on your own disk first and stays yours. The only thing we meter is storage on our servers, because that is the only thing that costs money.

Questions

The ones worth asking.

Why is the free tier really unlimited?

Because on the free tier your recordings live in your Google Drive, not ours. We hand you Google’s own share link and step out of the way. Loom caps you because Loom holds every file. We hold nothing. Capping how long or how often you record would be an invented limit.

What is actually free?

The whole recorder. Unlimited length, unlimited recordings, 1080p at 30fps, camera and mic, the trim editor, and the basic effects and backdrops. Paying buys fidelity and polish — 60fps, higher resolutions, no watermark, hosted branded links. It never buys permission to record longer or more often.

What does “stored with us” mean?

A ceiling you hold, not a monthly allowance — the same way iCloud works. Quick holds 50 GB of hosted videos at once, Studio 150 GB; delete one and the room comes back. It never resets, and it has nothing to do with how much you record.

What can Reverie actually see in my Drive?

Only files it created itself. Google calls this the drive.file scope and it is the narrowest one there is. The app cannot open your other documents — that permission was never granted.

What happens if your servers go down?

You keep recording. The app is native and works offline. Nothing about a take depends on us being reachable, and a licence check will never interrupt one.

Is there a watermark?

On the free tier, a small mark in the corner of the share copy. It is drawn live in the editor, so there is no surprise at export. Paid tiers remove it.

Can I use it for YouTube tutorials, not just work?

That is half of who it is for. Full-length takes, a camera inset you can shape and place, and a full-quality master on your disk to cut in whatever editor you already use.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your recordings stay where they are — your Drive and your own disk. Your local master was never ours to delete. Branded links keep working for 30 days, then the hosted copies are removed. Google share links are unaffected.

Start recording in about a minute.

No account needed to record. You will only sign in to Google when you want to share something.
